CalculateWise provides estimates for informational purposes only and is not financial, tax, legal, lending or investment advice.

How to use the Fuel Cost Calculator

  1. Choose your efficiency unit.
  2. Enter trip distance and vehicle efficiency.
  3. Enter local fuel price.

How it works

Fuel needed is derived from distance and efficiency, then multiplied by price per gallon or liter.

Formula

Fuel = distance ÷ MPG × price/gallon (or distance ÷ 100 × L/100km × price/L)

Example

A 300-mile trip in a 25 MPG car with $3.50/gallon fuel costs about $42.
