How to Calculate a Discount and Final Sale Price

Work out what you actually pay and what you actually save at any percent off.

2 min read

Step by step

  1. Multiply the price by the discount percent divided by 100 to get the savings.
  2. Subtract the savings from the price to get the final price.
  3. Example: $150 at 20% off saves $30, so you pay $120.
  4. Stacked discounts apply one after the other, not added together.

Key takeaway: Final price = price × (1 − discount ÷ 100).
